JOHNSTON COUNTY PERMITTING REQUIREMENTS
Permitting requirements within our fence installation territory are constantly changing. To understand the current permitting requirements specific for installing a fence, we have included links to the appropriate cities and townships website for your convenience.
JOHNSTON COUNTY
Johnston County does not have a set back requirement for fences. We recommend, however, that you make sure that the fence is completely within your side of the property line.
ANGIER (TOWN)
You will need to apply for a Land Use Permit if you are planning to build or add to any structure. This includes substantial renovations, any additions as well as fences, decks, pools, sheds and storage buildings. Click here to apply for a permit.
ARCHER LODGE (TOWN)
Archer Lodge does not currently require a permit for fences. Current language follows Johnston County code. Johnston County does not have a set back requirement for fences. We recommend, however, that you make sure that the fence is completely within your side of the property line.
CLAYTON (TOWN)
The Town of Clayton does require a permit for fences. Fences in the Town of Clayton are not allowed in easements or buffers. More information can be obtained by calling the Planning Department at 919.553.5002. Permit & Application Forms can be found here.
